Off by Heart Shakespeare

Following on from the 2009 poetry recital contest Off by Heart comes this national project aimed at getting schoolchildren engaged with the words of the Bard. The documentary follows the regional heats and workshops as the organisers, working with the Shakespeare Schools Festival, test the young competitors' memory, performance and engagement with the language as they perform soliloquies from Romeo and Juliet, Henry V and Hamlet. The nine best will take part in the final in Stratford-upon-Avon, hosted by Jeremy Paxman, as part of the World Shakespeare Festival
